OpenCon 2017 Jimma is the first OpenCon satellite event in Jimma! Held at Jimma Univeristy, the event will bring the spirit of the global OpenCon movement to our intellectual community. The event will focus on Open Access, Open Research, Open Data, and Open Education.
We will be inviting speakers who are experts and active advocates of Open Access who will brief us about the global and local Open access movement and activities undertaken so far. Our program will also include unconference session in which participants are invited to ask questions and discuss about various topics around open issues. As a one practical step forward, the event will also include hackathons in which openly licensed educational materials (text books, research papers, ....) will be hacked by participants which can be later organized and kept in JiT library as OER (Open Educational Resources).
