Scholarly information that is Open is absolutely crucial for removing barriers to education and moving towards more transparent, equitable, and efficient communication between researchers, and between the academic community and the public. Join us for a day of discussion about how Open Access, Open Data, and Open Education can transform the scholarly community at our OpenCon satellite event in downtown Toronto. Our event is being held in partnership with the main international OpenCon 2016 meeting in Washington, DC this November.
The day will include sessions by a diverse set of local speakers, including:
- Leslie Chan (Professor, University of Toronto Scarborough)
- Rachel Harding (post-doctoral fellow at the University of Toronto)
- Denisse Albornoz (Research Assistant, OCSDNet)
- Wes Kerfoot (Founder of the Guerilla Open Access League, McMaster University alumnus)
- Chris Landry (Scholarly Communications Librarian at OCADU)
- Karen Young (University of Toronto alumnus)
- David Porter (eCampus Ontario)
We are in the process of confirming additional speakers, but encourage you to register early to reserve your spot, as tickets will be limited!
We are grateful to TWG for lending us their event space for the day, as well as to Ryerson University Library & Archives, the University of Toronto Libraries, and eCampus Ontario for sponsoring the event.
