  4. September 2025 Librarian Community Call

Details

At the next OpenCon Librarian Community Call on September 9th at 1pm ET / 10am PT*, Creative Commons will present an overview of CC signals — a first iteration of a preference signals framework that offers stewards of large collections of content like data repositories or journal corpora to indicate preferences on conditions of use for AI training. The proposed signals offer a way to support the many legitimate purposes for machine reuse of content, especially in research, while providing a mechanism for reciprocity that is inline with the sharing norms of research.

OpenCon Librarian Community Calls are limited to those working in libraries.

You can find the Zoom link for the September call here.

*Note: This call is an hour later than our usual start time, starting at 1 PM ET / 10 AM PT.

Agenda and Notes

You can find all the proposed agendas and notes from the Librarian community calls in one place, right here.

Recordings

Community Calls are not recorded to support a safer environment for open and honest discussion. However, notes are taken.

What to expect

Community calls are always friendly, and we love new faces. The more you participate, the more you'll get out of it! No doubt there will be a lot of this too.
