Details

Join us for a day of discussion about open access and open data in downtown Toronto!  This OpenCon satellite event is held in partnership with the main international OpenCon 2015 conference occuring in Brussels, Belgium.

The day will include sessions by local speakers, covering various topics, including:

- Open Science and the Government of Canada (John Dupuis, York University)

- How to Build an Open Project on the Web (Arliss Collins, Mozilla Science Lab)

- Putting a Face on Open Data (Keith MacDonald, City of Toronto Open Data Initiative)

- How to comply with Canada's new Tri-Agency Open Access Policy (Bobby Glushko & Mariya Maistrovskaya, Univeristy of Toronto)

The day will also include some digital streams of the most inspiring talks and content from the international OpenCon 2015 meeting.  There will be the opportunity to network with other students, researchers, and open access/data advocates over a provided lunch.

Please be sure to register if you're interested in attending.  There is a small registration fee of $10 for those who register online through Eventbrite before November 14, and a fee of $15 for those who register online after November 14.  A limited number of $15 tickets will also be available at the door.  Please e-mail Lorraine at [email protected] for more information.

OpenCon Toronto 2015 is organized by OOO Canada, a research network that connects open data, open access and open education groups from across Canada. OOO Canada is thankful to Mozilla Science Lab for lending their space to us for the day.
