Peer Community In and Peer Community Journal: from preprint recommendation to diamond open access publication

Join us at the next OpenCon Librarian Community Call on Tuesday, April 14 at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT for a conversation with Denis Bourguet and Thomas Guillemaud, the co-founders of PCI.

Peer Community In (PCI) is a researcher-led alternative to today’s costly and opaque publishing system. It organizes thematic platforms where preprints are peer reviewed, publicly recommended by scientific communities and, if the authors wish, published in Peer Community Journal (a multidisciplinary diamond open-access journal).

Founded in 2017, PCI has recommended over 1,000 preprints across 21 thematic platforms, and since 2021, PCJ has published more than 550 articles and is indexed in major databases. As a non-profit and non commercial initiative supported by over 200 public research institutions worldwide, PCI is helping reshape scholarly communication around transparency, openness, reproducibility and academic independence.

About the speakers:
Denis Bourguet and Thomas Guillemaud are the co-founders of PCI. They are senior scientists at the French national research institute in agronomy and environment (Inrae) where they study the evolutionary biology of pest insect species. Denis works in Montpellier, France, and Thomas works in Sophia Antipolis, France.

OpenCon Librarian Community Calls are limited to those working in libraries, and registration is now required. You can register for the April call here.
