Details
The author-pays model, in which publishers charge authors an article processing charge (APC) to publish their article open access, is now a well-established and popular revenue source for publishers. The next OpenCon Library Community Call on April 8th at 12pm ET / 9am PT will feature Leigh-Ann Butler, the Scholarly Communication Librarian at the University of Ottawa and Eric Schares, the Engineering & Collection Analysis Librarian at Iowa State University, who will introduce an open dataset of APCs from six scholarly publishers over five years and outline the methodology and findings of a study estimating APC expenditures using this dataset.
OpenCon Librarian Community Calls are limited to those working in libraries, and registration is now required. You can register for the April call here.

What to expect
Community calls are always friendly, and we love new faces. The more you participate, the more you'll get out of it! No doubt there will be a lot of this too.
