  4. April 2018 OpenCon Community Call

Will you come?

Details

Just waiting for everyone to realize you’re a fraud, totally unqualified, and that all your success is down to luck? You might be experiencing Imposter Syndrome, and you’re not alone, many in the community struggle with it. There is no quick fix to Imposter Syndrome, but talking helps. We hope that the call will help give you tactics to deal with Imposter Syndrome, connect you with others who are also struggling, and help us all understand how we can support one another.

Call Agenda

You can find all the agendas and minutes from community calls in one place, right here.

Calls are always better with your contributions! Here are some questions to get you thinking before the call:

  • How has / does Imposter Syndrome affect you?
  • What tactics have you found helpful for you?
  • What would you say to others struggling?
  • How can we make the most of our Imposter Syndrome?
  • How can we support others with Imposter Syndrome, ourselves and as a community?
  • How is Impostor Syndrome socialized/reinforced by gender/race?

As ever, we welcome folks to join the discussion to listen, but encourage folks to come prepared to share their experiences in the discussion if they can... you’re totally qualified.

Joining details

We strongly suggest joining the call from your computer whenever possible.

To join from your computer, go to https://www.uberconference.com/SPARCconference. This requires the Google Chrome or Firefox browser. We recommend joining 5 minutes before the call to address any technical issues, and as there will be a chance to do a quick mic check. You can also use the mic check system here.

To join the conference by phone within the US, dial +1 855 277 1599.

To join the conference by phone outside of the US, see https://www.uberconference.com/international. This page provides local dial-in numbers for 50 countries. If available, you can dial into the local number for your country then enter our conference line information when prompted (phone number: 855 277 1599). If a local dial-in number isn’t available for your country, we suggest you either login from your computer using the instructions above or dial the US number (+1 855 277 1599) using Skype.

What to expect

Community calls are always friendly, and we love new faces. We’ve got some tips for first-timers, but in short, the more you participate, the more you'll get out of it!
