Satellite event hosts should:

Approve any sponsorship or formal partnership through the OpenCon organizers by emailing [email protected];

Use the OpenCon brand appropriately and use materials provided where possible;

Ensure a reasonable gender balance in speaker line ups;

Attempt to include Open Access, Open Education, and Open Data in an event, except where not appropriate for the audience;

Provide an introduction to OpenCon at the beginning of your event using the outline that will be provided by the organizers;

Maintain an up-to-date webpage for their event. We use this to wherever possible get information on your event and reduce what you need to tell us directly. We can provide you with a pre-built webpage, agenda hosting materials, and ticketing services; and,

Use the OpenCon livestream or recorded content from any event as part of theirs if appropriate;

Complete the OpenCon satellite event report after an event;

Inform the OpenCon team as soon as possible if an event is cancelled; and,

Use the main conference hashtag (#OpenCon) for the event, unless otherwise directed.
Satellite event hosts shouldn’t:

Aim to make a significant profit from events. However, small ticket charges to cover costs or encourage attendance are authorised, but not encouraged; and,

Present the event as partnered with or endorsed by the Right to Research Coalition (R2RC), or the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC). However, you are encouraged to present it is as part of the OpenCon conference series.
