Details
OpenCon community calls give a chance for you to learn what's happening in open research and education around the world, share what you're doing and find collaborators and opportunities. During this month's call, we'll be talking about "Big Deal" journal subscription packages (a large collection of electronic journals, bundled and sold by publishers to libraries).
Jane Schmidt will give an introduction on what big deals are and why they persist. Heidi Laine & Corina Logan will speak about on campus action to organize against big deals. We'll then have a discussion on how students, early career researchers, and librarians can tackle big deals.

What to expect
Community calls are always friendly, and we love new faces. The more you participate, the more you'll get out of it! No doubt there will be a lot of this too.
