E-campus for Nigerian Institutions

Posted by Lorraine Chuen 1110.20SC on August 10, 2017

This project involves building a compute resource/grid for data science researchers in Nigeria. This grid will connect several HPCs and clusters in different locations. This will (1) provide access to tools, programs and open data, a "playground" where data scientists can perform analyses on their data (2) serve as a platform for learning programming/computational skills for data science research (3) a warehouse for storing open data generated within Nigeria institutions. This will be open to all Nigerian Institutions.

What kinds of help are we looking for?

We are looking for shared access to Infrastructures (HPCs, computer resource), skills and knowledge that could support our work, relevant information on how to actualize this, link to previous/similar projects.

Can you be based remotely to help? Yes! Can collaborate from anywhere in the world.

Who do I get in touch with if I want to help out?  If you have questions or are interested in helping out, please get in touch with lorraine(at)sparcopen.org, and she will put you in touch with the leader of this project.

It definitely will help educate more computer illiterates.
It’s a very good means of informing the students about the importance of internet in the modern world.

recognise that this is one initiative that might promote open education in the country.

Great… I am researching into open and distance education in Nigeria and I recognise that this is one initiative that might promote open education in the country.
