Become a partner
In just two years, OpenCon’s community has grown to include several thousand students and early career researchers from across the globe. We want to continue to grow this community at pace, but importantly, also engage and support it while making it useful for the broader community. And for that, we need your help!
We invite organizations and individuals to partner with us.
The benefits of being a partner include:
-
Opportunities to discover students and early career researchers in your networks.
-
How: During the OpenCon application process you’ll receive customised forms you can use to identify people in your networks interested in OA, OER, and Open Data.
-
-
Low investment, high impact actions to support the next generation - a critical piece of the puzzle in advancing open,
-
How: We’ll ask partners to do quick, simple actions to help the meeting at critical moments. This might be helping to publicize the meeting (e.g. sharing posts), sourcing speakers, sponsors and other quick actions.
-
-
Connections with students and early career researchers interested in these issue near you
-
How: Using information from our application process and satellite events, we can refer people to you who may be interested in your work.
-
-
Assistance with long term engagement of students and early career researchers from your events,
-
How: If you regularly run events but struggle with long term follow up, we can help. Through our year round events and targeted calls to action, we can help ensure people you recruit can stay connected to the movement.
-
-
Receive “behind the scenes” updates on OpenCon and input into the evolution of the community
-
How: We’ll keep you in the loop with OpenCon’s activities, and ask you to help steer the program where needed.

If you’re interested :
-
Any organization can become a partner as long as it fits with our sponsorship guidelines; however, our organizing committee retains the right to review and approve all partners. We will periodically review and approve expressions of interest.
-
We’ve specifically designed engagement to be low overhead for partners, but we expect the benefits to be correlated directly to how deeply an organization engages.
-
As a partner, we may use your name, logo (among others) to demonstrate your support of the initiative on our website and announcements.
- Our OpenCon Partners Network is an experiment to help support the leadership of students and early career academic professionals and better connect them with the rest of the Open Access, Open Education, and Open Data communities. As a new, experimental part of OpenCon, we may change the terms of participation from time to time, and updates will be posted here.
